Team Brick with Belt

Tulsa Sports Acupuncture has been a proud sponsor of Jimmy ‘The Brick’ Flick since February of 2017 when he was preparing to fight for the XFN Bantamweight Title here in Tulsa. After a strong start to his career and already having held a previous MMA Title, The Brick found himself in position for a well-earned Title Shot in Tulsa’s most respected local show, Xtreme Fight Night. Jimmy dominated that evening and won the fight in the very first round, by submission, to capture the Championship Belt! This was of course only the beginning for Jimmy Flick, as he has risen to even higher glory since this epic victory.

In July of 2017, The Brick was matched up for an enormous opportunity in Dallas. Brought in a as 5-1 underdog, he would be facing the well-known and highly popular UFC Veteran Jonny Bedford. I’m not sure how someone with a resume as strong as Jimmy Flick’s resume could end up as such a huge underdog, but its most likely because Bedford was so well respected as a UFC Veteran, and he was the home-town boy. The reality is, Jimmy came to town and put him to sleep, literally. The Brick was behind on the scorecards headed into the 3rdround, so he knew he had to get the finish. Late in the 3rdand final round, Jimmy secured a choke and used it to reverse position on Bedford. Then he cranked the choke with all his might, and just before Bedford could reach up to tap, he lost consciousness and the ref had to step in and save him, ending the fight and giving Jimmy Flick one of his most impressive signature wins of his career! He didn’t claim a new Title that night, but he proved beyond a doubt that he is the highest caliber of fighter in the world, and that he could not only hang in the UFC against a well-proven opponent, but that he can compete against top fighters in any organization on the planet.  Tulsa Sports Acupuncture was in attendance for this fight, and it will always be a cherished memory for us.

In October of 2018, Jimmy Flick did something extra special. My wife/office manager Kelly had been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer the month before and she was preparing to start chemotherapy. (Spoiler Alert- she is doing great now, and she kicked cancers butt). But at this time Jimmy was so sweet and he said- “I’m dedicating my next fight to Kelly and also to another person I love who is going through breast cancer.” I know that he intended to win this fight regardless, but it’s a special thing to say and we could truly feel the love from the Champ. So, what did The Brick do? He went out and got us not 1, but 2 submission victories during Breast Cancer Awareness Month!! First, he submitted the very game Jeimeson Saudino for another excellent victory at Tulsa’s XFN, then he fought only 2 weeks later (crazy!!) and submitted an even higher-level opponent in Cee Jay Hamilton in the Legacy Fighting Alliance promotion. For those who know, these training camps are very strenuous for a fighter, and to compete at a high level and win these two fights against stud opponents within 2 weeks of each other is an amazing feat. Most fighters would hesitate to even take a fight so soon, let alone in a major organization, out of state, and with no training camp. Jimmy the Brick Flick is a true professional, and he understands what it takes to succeed in this sport.

In February of 2020, it was time for The Brick to take his career to yet another level and win another Championship Title in a premier organization. Freestyle Cage Fighting came to town and at this point Jimmy was the consensus top ranked Flyweight in Oklahoma (and Bantamweight by the way). So there was no one to even consider but to call The Brick. They offered him a chance at the Flyweight Title, and The Brick was more than ready. Long story short, another 1stround submission victory, another Belt around the waist of The Brick! Every fight and every camp is unique, and for this Title Fight, Jimmy was given a last minute replacement opponent. His replacement opponent was no slouch, but rather a very experienced and very skilled fighter. For a lot of MMA fighters, changing opponents in the last week would create high levels of stress and could throw things off quite a bit. Not in this case, Jimmy Flick is a consummate professional and the change in opponent did not faze him at all. He did what he came to do, and he went home with Title! I will never forget the joy we felt as my 7-year-old nephew and I entered the cage after the fight to celebrate and take pictures with the Champ. Yet another of my life’s dearest memories came as part of Team Brick!

Team Brick

2020 will be remembered for many reasons, not all of them positive. However, in the MMA World, 2020 is the Year of The Brick! MMA was pretty much cancelled for the two months following Jimmy’s FCF Title Victory, as the country attempted to figure out a response to Co-Vid 19. Once things were moving again and live sporting events returned, Jimmy was quick to get a call from yet another premier organization, the highly prestigious Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA). The LFA has earned a name as the springboard into the Ultimate Fighting Championships. For those who dream of one day competing in the UFC, there are only a few paths to really achieve that goal. Winning a World Title in the LFA is considered one of the best ways to get the attention of UFC President Dana White and his match makers. At this point in his career, Jimmy Flick had proven he stands in the elite category of Flyweight Fighters, and sure enough the LFA called and offered him the Title Fight at 125 lbs. Once again, Jimmy went into the cage and obliterated his opponent, earning what currently stands as the fastest Title Victory in LFA history. No suspense, no drama, just 38 seconds of dominance followed by a tap out. The Brick now stands at 3-0 in LFA as the Flyweight Champion! We don’t know what exactly will come next for Jimmy Flick, but he has proven all there is to prove and he has cemented his legacy as one of the best Flyweight fighters in the world and certainly as one of the greatest fighters ever to hail from the great state of Oklahoma.
